Asbestos Removal Newtown

Newtown's housing stock spans multiple eras of construction, with many properties having undergone multiple renovations over the decades. This layering of renovations means asbestos can appear in unexpected locations — behind newer wall linings, under floor coverings, or in extensions added in the 1960s–1980s.

Our experienced team conducts thorough assessments of Newtown properties before commencing removal work, ensuring all asbestos-containing materials are identified and safely removed.

Newtown's terraces, semis and shop-top dwellings have been divided, joined, tenanted and renovated more than most. Asbestos commonly sits in rear additions and bathroom linings, in the sheeting between converted flats, behind old kitchen cabinetry, in the eaves and under the front verandah, and in the ceiling and wall linings of upstairs rooms that were opened up for extra bedrooms. Shopfront buildings often have it around service ducts and in the linings of storerooms behind the trading floor.

Much of our Newtown work happens in occupied buildings, so the plan has to protect people who are still living or trading there. We isolate the work area properly, run removal around trading hours where a shop is involved, and keep common stairs and entries usable. Parking is scarce, so loading is booked in advance and waste leaves in one trip rather than sitting on the footpath while the job continues.

Landlords in particular should not put this off. If asbestos in a rental is damaged or disturbed, the person who manages the property carries the duty to deal with it, and a repair job by a general handyman can turn a contained material into a genuine hazard. A licensed removal with documentation is cheaper than the clean-up after a wall is cut into with a power tool, and it gives the owner a clear record of what was removed, when, and by whom.
